This week the year 7 classes are making modified muesli bars. We have modified a recipe to lower the fat content and enhance the flavour. We added fruit to make it healthier and taste yummy!

ROOM 7'S MODIFIED MUESLI BARS

1 c weet-bix (crushed)
1 c coconut
1 c dried mixed berries (chopped smaller)
1 c sunflower seeds
1/2 c sesame seeds
1 c rolled oats
100 grams butter
1/2 c honey
1/4 c brown

METHOD
Put coconut, weet-bix, seeds and oats in a big, flat bowl and mix together.

Cook in the microwave on high for 2 1/2 minutes, stir and repeat.

In another bowl put in the butter, sugar and honey. Cover with absorbent paper and
microwave on high for 2 minutes until melted. Stir well.

Add dry ingredients, wet ingredients and chopped up dried fruit to a large bowl and combine well.

Spread evenly in a 20 x 30 cm tin lined with baking paper. Press down firmly with a rubber spoon. put into the fridge and leave to set for 2 hours.

Slice into bars and enjoy.

What the class thought: OUR FINAL OUTCOME

We thought it tasted nice because the berries gave it a lot of flavour and the
seeds gave it a nice texture. However, next time we would try it without any sugar
because we increased the amount of honey we used and decreased the butter. The honey is very sweet and so we felt that the sugar could be left out altogether.
